Our elementary school is home to a diverse population of about 500 fourth and fifth grade students, and as the library media specialist I serve them all! Our school is located on an Air Force base, so we serve many military families as well as a large group of low- and average-income families who live near the base. I want my library program to be relevant to the curriculum, as well as to my students' lives, so I strive to provide connections to the things they are learning about and the topics they are interested in. I also want to expose them to as many STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) activities as possible so that they can begin now to prepare for successful careers later.
