My students are a group of enthusiastic fourth graders who work collaboratively with their first grade friends in our elementary school. The first grade teacher and myself approached our students about the importance of recycling. Our school recycles white paper, but not so much in the area of plastics and cans. The students decided to start a recycling program in our school, beginning with plastic beverage containers. Our students created posters, and the topic was introduced at our school wide "Town Meeting". Our school is Pre-k through 6th grade and our school has spirit and drive!! Our students are very excited to begin this recycling program, but we need containers to place the recyclables in. Currently students decorated paper bags as a temporary solution.
