My teacher heart wants every one of my kindergarten students to LOVE books and yearn to be a reader. Every classroom should have a variety of books for different purposes. We need picture books to share together that guide discussions about the world around us or stories we can immerse ourselves in. We also need books that help us to learn to read. Leveled books are written in such a way that they scaffold the learning of emergent readers. The donations to my project will build our classroom's leveled book library. Emergent readers love stories but they also love non-fiction books. These non-fiction sets of books will provide a variety of interesting topics for my children to explore as they learn to read.
