This technology would make a tremendous difference in the lives of my students. The math and English Language Arts programs my district purchased includes a wide variety of online tools to address practice, intervention, and challenges for high achieving or gifted students. The iPads would allow my students to access these tools on a daily basis. The iPads would allow for an infinite number of learning possibilities for my students. Each child could learn about what interests him or her, work on research projects, and participate in collaborative STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) challenges. I truly believe the way to inspire life-long learning and independent problem-solving is to teach students how to teach themselves. Having access to online libraries, zoos, science websites, Nasa, etc., will entice kids to learn about what they are interested in while practicing the skills they need to become independent learners and global citizens. Having this technology available would allow my students to access numerous learning apps and books online. In order to become fluent readers, students need to practice reading books at their level. There are free online book websites which provide leveled books to allow students to practice the skills they are working on using both fictional and informational continuous text. The iPads would increase the books I have available for my students by thousands. These iPads would increase the opportunities for differentiated learning in my class and make a huge difference in the lives of my students.
