Scholastic News Magazine is the perfect student-friendly magazine subscription that will enable me to teach media literacy to my students. Scholastic News Magazine gives my students access to informational text while also teaching them about current events and important social studies curriculum. Scholastic News is also a wonderful resource because they are engaging and a different form of reading for students. In second grade, the emphasis shifts from learning to read to reading to learn. These magazines would be a great launching pad to start engaging class discussions about media literacy. In addition to classroom use, these magazines could also be taken home to share with their families. Students would now be in charge of sharing their learning with parents and siblings!
