I teach in a high-poverty area, but that doesn't discourage my students from being excited about school and having an unquenchable desire to learn. We work hard at our school to provide a safe and nurturing environment. As a small rural school, the teachers know most of the kids by name and know who their families are. In spite of the socioeconomic level of our community, our school has won the School of Recognition Award from our state for seven years in a row. We are proud of our accomplishments and recognize that it is working only though working in partnership with each other, our students, and our community that we are able to achieve all we have achieved.
