I am blessed to work with students who are eager to learn yet impressionable. All of my students have some type of moderate disability which impairs them from accessing the general education curriculum but they are accepted on our campus and often times have multiple peer buddies by choice. The regular education students are always asking if he or she will be attending any grade level parties, field trips, etc. They are truly accepted and embraced by not only the students on our campus but the staff. Everyone stops and speak s to them often times giving them a high five as we walk by. You would think we were coming out of the tunnel of opening night of a ball game. My students do STANDOUT on our campus in a positive way. They provide a real-world the opportunity for growth and understanding with their peers that while they may have a disability they are just like them in so many other ways.
