I teach in an urban k-8 magnet school. My students are gifted students, but since I teach at a magnet school, most people assume that my students do not need any extra resources to make them successful students. But as classrooms change from a teacher-centered class into a more well-rounded student-centered class where my students can choose from multiple resources in order to understand math concepts independently. I teach students that struggle with math but love reading. I would like to incorporate math literature in my math centers in order to reach these students. By adding these resources to my classroom, I hope that I can make my math lessons more fun!
