Flexible seating allows students to find that "perfect spot" to either get cozy with a book or collaborate with fellow classmates. It helps create a positive learning environment and encourages productivity. The goal of flexible seating is to increase engagement and helps create a more student centered environment. My English Language Learners need to feel absolutely comfortable and open minded when trying to grasp new concepts and words being presented to them. Unfortunately, there are many times in school where students don’t get to make choices for themselves. As small as it may seem, making a choice of where they get to sit, has a huge impact on a student's attitude and engagement. I truly feel, flexible seating is the vehicle to help my students achieve their goals in helping build their vocabulary and understanding of the English language.
