Each year our students come up with ideas to sell at our Christmas Extravaganza which is an event to raise funds for the elementary. The Extravaganza is a lesson in economics for our elementary students. They have to come up with a product and then figure out how much money they need to create it and how much they need to charge for their product in order to make a profit. This year my students are very interested in designing and 3D printing. I want to combine their interests with this year's Extravaganza project. The students will design an ornament on browser software and then print their ideas with the 3D printer. We will advertise our products as student designed and printed. Students will figure the cost of the product and then calculate the amount to charge the public. The fourth grade will vote on how to use their profit. The fourth grade always votes to give a portion of their profit to a charity organization.
