I am a special education teacher that teaches in a class with another full time general education teacher. We also have a teacher assistant. I have 22 children. Half of my students have individualized educational plans for special needs. The other half does not. These children work together to accomplish both academic and social-emotional tasks on a daily basis. Many of our students come from families with low socio-economic backgrounds and English is their 2nd language. For many, most of the socialization, education of the curriculum, and technology, only occurs within the school setting. That is why we are constantly trying to enhance our classroom environment with motivating instructional methods and tools, as well as promoting positive relationships among each other.
