Flexible seating options work to meet the needs of every child in my classroom. Some kids work best cozy on the floor, others like to be sitting at a table, while still others need to stand to be successful. This project would bring me closer to accommodate all of those needs. Research supports the idea that students who are active have better focus, faster cognitive processing, and have more successful memory retention. My students need this type of active stimulation to help them in their studies. I teach a variety of students, but a special population I work with are our students with Individualized Education Plans. They have qualified based on reading, writing, or behavior deficits. While all students would benefit from active seating, this group would especially benefit. Providing students with exercise balance ball chairs will allow them to move while learning!
