This project will allow me to build my sensory kits and my library to help all of my 500+ students to build resiliency, develop coping skills, and garner respect for one another during this most difficult time. All students at my school will participate in social-emotional lessons which include reading books and applying principles of self-management. According to the American School Counseling Association, student Mindsets and Behaviors are critical for academic success. Our students are lacking these necessary social-emotional skills. Mindset Standards M 1., Belief in development of whole self, including a healthy balance of mental, social/emotional, and physical well-being and M 2. Sense of acceptance, respect, support, and inclusion for self and others in the school environment are learned behaviors that many of our students lack. Please help my students learn and grow in a way that will help them not only in school but also in life!
