I am requesting a document camera in the classroom so they can see the visual aids I am using during a lesson and follow along easily.A document camera allows a teacher to project anything under its lens onto a screen. By pairing a document camera with my interactive board it would allow the students to see a visual aid, of any type, in large scale view. Since many first graders are visual learners, being able to see a teacher perform step by step directions or the process needed to complete assigned work or activities is critical. A document camera would give the students this opportunity. Having a large class size makes it hard for all of the students to gather around me at the same time to watch a demonstration on how to complete an activity. If the students cannot see, they lose interest quickly and stop listening. If I was able to project what I was doing onto the board, the students would all be able to watch what I was doing at the same time. This would give the students more time to complete the activity because there would be less time spent on giving the directions multiple times.
