My class is a wonderful group of students! They are full of life and have lots of energy. They love to play outside and engage in dramatic play. During instruction time my students enjoy the type of learning in which they are actively engaged in the learning process. Throughout the day we take several movement breaks that allow the students to refocus their attention to the teaching and learning process. Kindergarten is a big transition for many students who are not accustomed to being in a structured and routine environment. In any grade, especially Kindergarten, students need to be given ample opportunities to move. Physical activity enables students to maintain focus during instruction time. Our school is located on a former Air Force Base in a very low income, rural community. Many students have not had the opportunity to travel outside our small community. They come to school everyday and thrive on the safe, consistent and nurturing environment that is provided in our school.
