As a new teacher this year, I am striving to make my classroom a fun, peaceful, diverse and nurturing learning environment. Reading is one of my many passions, and I can't wait to instill that same love in my first graders, knowing that a love of reading will have a positive impact on their future schooling as well as on their personal lives. I want my students to be drawn into the library, eager to find stories and artwork that captivate their imaginations. I can't wait to sit in my reading chair and share interesting facts about ocean animals, or read a story about the importance of empathy. Books have so much to teach us, in addition to being a necessary skill for future learning. By helping me to create a cozy and inviting classroom library you are helping to nurture a love of reading, and of learning, in my fabulous first graders.
