As students begin the school year online, it is now more important than ever to provide authentic learning opportunities for students. Scholastic magazines and online subscriptions provide interesting articles for students. I want to promote literacy by providing articles about current issues. When I have used these articles in the past, students not only show a passion for learning, but they sit up a little higher in their seats as they realize they can make connections to what they are reading. These articles will aid our current curriculum-- allowing for more student choice while focusing on the same state standards. Apple iPads offer many apps that can make teaching more engaging. I want to have the best technology at my fingertips so that I can collaborate with my students and give them the best instruction possible. I will be able to develop my own interactive materials, model writing and reading, and create and edit my own teaching videos so that they truly grab my students' attention.
