I teach in a school that has wonderful and caring educators. I taught kindergarten for 9 years and I have taught First grade for 2 years. There are about 450 students in my school and 21 of them are in my first grade classroom. 50 percent of our school population receives free or reduced lunch. The students in my classroom are diverse and unique, with many different life experiences. We have all grown very close over the last two years together.
One of the difficult things my students and I have faced as we transitioned into the first grade classroom is the lack of resources. During our science and social studies units, I find it difficult to find quality literature to guide the learning.
