I will be working with fourth graders, and I had some of them when they were in first grade. These students come from a wide variety of backgrounds in our urban school. They are a wonderful group, but I will need to keep my curriculum exciting and moving quickly to keep their attention. Our school does not receive a lot of extra funding, therefore, it is up to teachers to get many supplies for our classrooms. Our school is focused on the traditional curriculum of reading, writing, and math. Our students have less time at specials and recess than many other elementary schools in our district.
