Four out of five of our students will be the first in their families to attend college. Our motto is, “Whatever it takes!” and we strive each day to provide engaging instruction and learning strategies to meet the needs of each student. BC's students work hard! Over half of the 5th grade students are involved in after school tutoring, after school homework support, Saturday learning center, and enrichment book groups. Since 5th grade is the beginning year of the school, students arrive at very different academic levels. Unfortunately, many of the 5th grade students begin the year with below grade level reading levels. In order to reach our goal of preparing students for college, Boston Collegiate is committed to increasing all students' reading levels. We have incorporates fiction texts into math stories, science classrooms, and history classes. We have added nonfiction units and supplementary materials to existing book groups and fiction units.
