The majority of my high school students need speech/language therapy for language deficits. My high school is has a transient population of students where 65% are minorities and at least 38% are economically disadvantaged. This includes a large population of English Language Learners who also have language impairments. My school a typical feeder school which is also a STEM (Science Technology Engineering Mathematics) school (this is rare). Our area is known here as the largest mobile-home community west of the Mississippi. All of our students are asked to problem-solve on their own and provide comprehensive oral presentations. My students are those that need therapy for speech/language. They are often burned-out after years of this type of therapy, but still need to acquire skills and strategies to get through their classes. Many of them are kinesthetic learners and need repetition of learning in a variety of ways.
