Hello! Teaching is my passion, and reaching is the path. I love working with the most gnarly of kids. They are generally the most in need. The first challenge is figuring out what the needs are and meeting them face on. Once my students have learned to trust me, there is very little they will not do for me. The hard part is getting them to do to "it" for themselves, not me. Each year I work hard to wake students up. To get them to start asking questions again, to start thinking for themselves. For the past seven years, I have been able to take them for a three day sail a board the century old tall ship, Adventuress.....you want to talk about life changing! No electronics, no junk food, only clean-hard work while they learn how to sail and take care of the ship. They learn the importance and value of community. I try to engage each student in many different activities everyday through the guise of learning science.
