I teach students in grades K - 5 that are in a high poverty area. The students are at a disadvantage because they lack access to high quality, nonfiction books that are appropriately leveled books. I desperately want to remedy this because I feel strongly that the only way to close the achievement gap is by helping students to become proficient readers by third grade. For some of our students their only meal and source of comfort comes from attending school. I want to feed their imaginations as well and make sure that they can read by third grader. To achieve this end I am trying to obtain leveled books for al of the classrooms I go into. With your help I will be able to remove the stumbling blocks created by lack of funding. If you fund this project you will help me to achieve my dream of getting books into all of our students hands that are just right for them. This project will start a real change at my school with long term impact. Help me to create lifelong readers .
