My students are a huge part of my life. They have taught me more than I could ever teach them. Each student is either on the autism spectrum, ADHD, Speech Impaired, or Orthopedically Impaired . They are such intelligent kids and immediately grabbed my heart when I met them. I have so many gifts sitting in my classroom. Not only to some deal with academic issues, but also acceptance by others. Social awkwardness affects them all, so making friends is a major obstacle. Wanting to be like other "typical" teenagers is sometimes a struggle and with a variety of neurological issues sometimes "not so appropriate" behaviors can be displayed. I love being able to make a difference in my students' lives academically, but also emotionally and socially. By gaining resources needed to make the school day smoother, my students will be achievers!
