My students visit my room to receive support in the areas of math and reading. During this time, they receive small and whole group instruction, along with one on one instruction. Each day many of my students are faced with everyday challenges that many students within the regular education classroom would find easy and fun. My students struggle to stay focused and motivated. However, my students are still required to meet the requirements of Common Core and state testing of a typical student. Throughout the course of the day, I try to keep my students moving. We rotate through centers, take breaks, and change positions. However, my students still fidget in their seats, get up and down out of their chairs, and walk around the room to get a tissue, drink, or use the restroom many times throughout the course of the day. This causes distractions and a loss of instructional time. My goal is to help eliminate this by allowing my students to have constant movement and motion.
