Por favor, ayuda a mis estudiantes a mejorar sus destrezas de lectura y comprensión en su lengua nativa. Please help my students to improve their reading and comprehension skills in their native language. I would love to have a small library space where my native Spanish-speaking students can read in their own language. I currently have the most amazing group of students in grades 7-12. I am planning to have a small library full of novels, fiction, fantasy, non-fiction and multicultural books. With these books, my students will develop more skills in reading, comprehension, writing, critical thinking and much more. The goal is for my students to grow into thinking with their own perspectives about different topics such as cultures, traditions and literature genres. Having the basic skills in reading, reading comprehension and writing in their native language is essential for them to learn a second language. Having multicultural books in the library will allow students to have a better perspective of cultural diversity. They can also learn about people's experiences as immigrants so they mirror their own situation. At the same time, they gain more empathy and critical thinking skills which is fundamental to everyone's personal and academic growth.
