We are a Title I public school located in Queens, New York. We proudly represent a diverse population of students. The neighborhood that surrounds our school is home to one of the larger South Asian communities in the New York City area. There are also many South American, Eastern European, and Caribbean children that attend our school. The students in our string orchestra program are hardworking and dedicated. The ensemble performs in several school performances, festivals, and community centers, as well as the 5th-grade graduation. Many of the students take private lessons, but most learn how to play violin at our school. As they progress in their skills, we offer students the opportunity to expand their knowledge to other stringed-instruments such as the viola, cello, and even the double bass! Some of the more advanced players will pair up to play more advanced duets or trios that are found in the classical repertoire. The ensemble meets two days a week.
