I teach in a charter school in an urban area. I have the privilege of teaching 42 children Reading, Writing, and Language Arts. My kiddos sometimes come in wearing the same shirt or pants as the previous day, often without having breakfast, and exhausted from whatever may have happened the night before... Not one child walks into my room without a big smile, a firm handshake, and a cheery "Good morning, Miss Smith!" They come in excited to be at school and immediately unpack, getting started with their day. They're ready to learn!
