I have a combination of students with and without disabilities, ranging in age from 3 to 5, each one with their own individual and unique personalities! The blending of students with and without disabilities within a classroom, is a wonderful opportunity for them to grow and learn from each other, but does make it more challenging for a variety of reasons. I have students with a range of disability categories (Autism/Down Syndrome/Multi-Handicap/ADHD), which impacts their development in different ways, which then effects their abilities and skills within the classroom. I have other students whose development and skills are progressing as expected. I have students who can speak, then other students who are just starting to do that. I have students whose academic skills (letters/numbers/counting/rhyming/sorting) are appropriate, and other students who are just starting to learn those concepts. All my students are motivated and eager to learn, and I love that part of this age group!!!
