Possessing a set of iPads will help me design dynamic learning experiences for my students via STEM instruction.
iPad technology will enable me differentiate curricula by providing students with the technological access points they need to maximize STEM learning experiences.
iPads will be used in STEM centers. Students will work in small groups and utilize their tablets to augment and reinforce whole group learning centered on the daily teaching point and/or unit goals. iPad technology will help facilitate all students' use of language. Many of my students do not possess functional language and rely upon consistent prompting. The software will provide my students with the "input" necessary to replace human prompts with visual cues.
For students who lack the fine motor skills needed to express their understanding of content in written form, iPad technology will allow them to use the touch screen capability and actually watch their finger move and write directly on the screen, this greatly improves their fine motor skills.
Moreover, I intend to use iPad technology to teach students to code. iPads will permit my students to utilize Lego Wedo 2.0 software to participate in STEM competitions such as the First Junior Lego League Challenge and the NYC District 75 STEM fair.
Ultimately, iPad technology will help my students become technologically literate, as they will become better equipped to solve problems, communicate, find, utilize, and synthesize information presented to them in real-world contexts.
