Recently, I participated in a professional development opportunity called NC State Parks Teacher Collaboration. We spent 3 days exploring both state parks in our county. We were led by representatives from the UNC Institute for the Environmental Center for Public Engagement with Science and NC Park Rangers on park activities that were available to students. Even though I have taught science for several years, I was amazed at how interested and excited I became over the outdoors. We used magnifying glasses and collected samples to observe them. I want to bring that same curiosity and excitement to my students by getting these tools in their hands.

About my class
