My students are the cutest little things in the entire world! They come in everyday ready to learn and explore. More than half of my students are ESL learners and they have learned so much in such a short amount of time. They are a great group of kiddos and they light up the hallways with their enthusiasm to learn. If it were up to them we would read books all day, every day. The students love to sing and dance! We have the best circle time because they are all engaged and ready to see what activity we will be diving into daily. I have found that songs, dancing and storytelling activities with visuals really help all students with comprehension, especially the ESL students. My school is in the heart of Indiana and we have a lot of issues like most inner city schools. My hope is that getting children ready for kindergarten will help resolve some of the issues the upper grade students are facing with academics.
