The student population at my school is 31% Hispanic, 37% African American, 19% Caucasian, 2% Asian, and 11% Other My students range from Pre-Kindergarten to 4th graders. These children sing, dance, play instruments, create, and imagine under my care and direction every week. The music room is a happy, creative space in our school. Students use my space as an escape from their outside life. Some students come to my class sad, worried, anxious, or stressed. I work very hard at creating a space that is nurturing and loving. The power of music helps them to feel happy and encouraged. I consider my classroom a positive, safe place for them to explore the art of music. When they leave my classroom they are smiling and energized. I would love to use this drum as a tool for success. My students will learn how to cooperate to make music. I know this drum would be well loved in my classroom!
