I work with kindergarten to 3rd grade. They are all so excited to come to my room and read and write in a small group of 4 students. They are all trying so hard and it shows. The biggest weakness is to get them to read at home. We are stressing literacy in our school. We are a school outside of Washington, DC. We have a lot of students from other countries. The students I work with are below grade level. A gift of a book would make the children feel so special. I would love to hand them a book right before Spring Break so they have their own book to read! I know they would treasure it. I say to my groups, "Books are a gift- treat them that way." This would really be their book as a gift!
