My middle school is located in South Carolina. 54% of the school is on free or reduced-price lunch. There are a total of 897 students in the school. All the students have an arts class; including theatre, dance, music, band, strings and visual arts. Classes in theatre average 30 students per class. Challenges that the arts classes have are overcrowded classes with no budget to buy teaching materials. Another challenge is that every student has an art class whether they want one or not and while it is important to expose the students to the arts, no student has to pass the class in order to pass the grade. Some students consider their arts class purely social time which can destroy the class for students who are motivated.
