Our students really want to enjoy learning and to be challenged, however they come to school with a lot of burden on their little growing minds and it makes it tough to stay settled and focused on their education. My students are 3rd graders just beginning to discover their true potential. Even though our school is in a high poverty area and 100% of our students receive free breakfast and lunch, we keep our academic standards high. Many of my students have experienced traumatic, life altering events. Some live in very difficult circumstances that make it challenging to make it to school every day. Our classroom is a 'safe place' where we can leave everything else at the door and focus on learning.
