Flexible seating help focus flexible minds. My students have many options within the class to sit at a table, on the floor, in adirondack chairs, elevated desks, clipboards, regular desks, beanbags, stability chair, etc. To make our classroom complete it would be so helpful to add additional seating options. Research shows that students that have flexible seating are able to focus more at the task at hand. When students are comfortable, they often perform better and can focus longer. Flexible seating is also a great motivator. We have changed so much in education and the traditional seating arrangements are no longer conducive to best learning. The difference I have seen in my students with the little changes made in seating arrangements last year have been so positive. Students have been more focused, complete assignments in a more timely manner, and perform better overall. They almost always make good choices when deciding where they want to sit as well. The flexible seating options I have chosen will give each student more choice in where they want to sit. They can use it at their individual desk, a table, or indepently. I know that this opportunity will continue to help my students excel.
