My science classroom is a place where all my students have opportunities to learn, think critically, be creative, and be themselves. I teach using every available idea and method to help capture their interest and imagination. Most of my students come from backgrounds of disadvantage (economic or social). They don't really have a vision of the "outside" wider world in a positive sense. As their teacher, I see my role as someone helping them to see the personal power and choices they have. It is my job to help them to access this. Science is ever changing. I teach Environmental Sciences to freshman and seniors. Teaching them about our natural environment, water, air and ecosystems is really key to our future. I see each one as a light that I can send out to help spread the word and change our world for the better.
