There are 23 enthusiastic 5 and 6 year-olds in my classroom. They love to be active and work together. Our school has adopted a "give me 5" signal for all students in our school. Even though these little ones love to wiggle, they are trying hard to follow the signal to keep their body still and listen to the speaker. Each of the hallways in our school has been named a character trait. Our hall is Caring Street and when we return for second semester, our class will have hibernating Care Bears above the lockers in the hallway with a "We Care A Lot" banner above the little care bear caves. All teachers work to promote good character in our students. Having a comfortable learning environment helps everyone to focus more on the positive aspects of our character.
