Our students come from two counties and a variety of backgrounds. Some were home schooled until high school; some attended nontraditional charter middle schools; others come to us from large conventional middle schools. What unites them is their desire to participate directly in the discovery of knowledge. They are enthusiastic, creative, curious...and wonderfully weird. For our spring expedition, students will be learning about aquatic ecology. We are partnering with our local land trust to implement the trust's management plan for a pond that was deeded to them. The goal is to improve the health of the pond and the surrounding area to make it more usable for local residents as well as the turtles that live there and are designated as a species of special concern.
