My classes are constantly trying to create new things using technology, but as equipment gets older they have a harder time trying to match the vision in their heads. These pieces of hardware will help them fulfill the ideas they dream up in their heads. They'll finally be able to take high quality images and video around campus and in front of our green screen to add into their computer with a new Nikon camera. With the Huion tablet, they will be able to make intricate edits that they were previously unable to make with just a mouse and keyboard. And the iPad will open up opportunities for new applications that will allow the students to do more animation and provide an additional camera they can make their media with. These items will help them finally create the things they have been dreaming up in their minds. My class is about teaching these students to be creative and come up with new things that they haven't been able to do before. It is also about critical thinking, and the need for them in the future to not only come up with new ideas, but also figure out how to make those ideas real. These skills can translate into any work place and career, and are vital to their future success. Having access to new hardware and technology and learning how to incorporate that into these routines will greatly increase their chances of advancement when they are placed in real world situations.
