“I never teach my pupils, I only attempt to provide the conditions in which they can learn," Albert Einstein wrote. Who am I to question the wisdom of Einstein, even if my students might beg to differ? Teaching Language Arts for the past 3 decades has allowed me to see the shift toward students learning through technology. Gone are the days of lectures, rote, teacher centric learning. (Thank goodness!!) My students are fun, eager, sponges wanting to soak up anything I impart on them -- though they would prefer it in the form of technology. Our student population is a mix of suburban and urban, with a high percentage of students on free/reduced lunch. We also have a rising population of ELL students. Thanks to a grant, all 600+ students at our middle school have been issued chromebooks. Now both the students and I can have the world open before us -- by just logging in! The new technology has helped all of my students reach beyond my expectations. Watch out world!
