I've noticed that many of my students prefer to sit on the floors, countertops, and even desks. The desks aren't sturdy enough to accommodate, and they can't always see the board from the countertops and floor so I have to ask them to move. Many choose to pace or miss class time taking walks in the hall because they just can't sit still in my current chairs. The chairs we have now are old and stained and very easy for students to tip over if they fidget even a little. Many of my students are on the special ed track and need additional supports. I want to develop a flexible seating program so all students can feel comfortable remaining engaged throughout an 85 minute block. Flexible seating benefits both mental and physical health. By donating to this campaign, you'll be helping to send a message to my students that their classroom is a positive space for all learners! I want to see my students comfortable and successful in class.
