I would like for my students to hand write journal entries on a daily basis in order to unplug, even for a portion of their 90-minute class time. Students spend a large portion of class time seated, in front of a computer. Computer science students will write daily journal entries in composition notesbooks using colored pens based on topics we study. The journal entries may be warm-up exercises, reflection, or debrief exercises for students to think about what they have learned in class. Chart paper will be used for group collaboration projects, as will the post-it notes. By implementing this type of learning activity, students will have an opportunity to formulate thoughts about what they have learned!
