My classes need a high-interest young adult novel that was written after the 1970s, which my school is in short supply of. "Speak" is a novel that my students had a lot of success with at my old school, but unfortunately there is not enough money in our school's budget until at least next year. But my students need a new text this year. "Speak" is a powerful novel about navigating high school under difficult circumstances and finding your voice, something my my students desperately need. This class set of the novel will not only help my students understand important literary devices and develop their reading skills, but it will allow them a space to discuss difficult and relevant topics as they navigate high school.
