Our school is in rural Vermont, about half of the student population qualifies for free and reduced lunch. This year I have 29 wonderful students who are eager to learn. I have students who come in everyday and say, "So what are we going to learn about today?" I love hearing this. As a teacher I know the more ways I present material the better the chance all students have of learning, remembering, and using the information. For every lesson I teach I try to have small group centers, cooperative games, and plenty of literature. Our school has adopted the Common Core State Standards as well as the Next Generation science standards; both sets of standards require the inclusion of literature to further our students' knowledge and learning. One of our upcoming units is the human body,and we will be exploring 7 systems! My goal is to make this learning/exploration as positive as possible.
