My classroom consists of 23 high poverty at risk students. Many of them are behind skillwise, when compared to other students of the same age. These students move constantly and their personal possessions are limited. All students in the school receive free breakfast and lunch everyday. The vast majority of students do not have books in their homes that are suitable for them to read. My students come from homes where parents have limited schooling. Parents don't spend time reading to their children and often have limited reading abilities themselves. Regardless of their personal struggles, these students come to school every day, ready to learn and ready to give it their all.
