I am a first grade teacher in a big city school system. I have 20 students. In our school we want our children to feel like they are part of a community. I have a "responsive" classroom and work hard to create a supportive and positive climate for learning to meet the diverse population in our school. Every morning we meet to greet each other, share, extend vocabulary and do various math activities to promote concept building. We also use our carpet to listen to stories ,have discussions and mini lessons. My first graders love their "Morning Meeting" and carpet time!
