I am a music teacher at a music magnet school for students in grades five through twelve. All of our students have at least one period of music classes in their schedules EVERY DAY. Our students graduate from our program with stronger music skills and knowledge of concepts than at a traditional neighborhood school. Upon graduation, many of our students continue to study music in college, or continue to perform in community ensembles for the rest of their lives. My classroom is our piano lab, and I teach all of our students to apply the concepts they are learning in music theory to an instrument, all while building foundational piano technique. All of our students have passionate interests in music and desire to increase their musicianship through every opportunity available to them.
