I have a classroom of 22 four and five year old students. A few attended a daycare facility that offered a learning environment, but the majority of my students stayed at home with parents or grandparents and this year is their first venture into learning. We are a Title I school with a high poverty level. The pre-k program is funded by the state lottery so we do not qualify to use Title I funds in our classroom to buy technology. Unfortunately, the funding we receive from the lottery does not cover technology, either. Most of my students do not have access to a computer at home and while they do use computers at school, it's only for 30 minutes a week.
